the kick off day, now the Christmas is coming with storm steps…

Today it’s the first of advent… I have hanged my nice snow flakes up and put my little Cernit Santa from my niece Tova into my kitchen window, that ´s all for this Christmas, I going up to the north to my family over Christmas and new year, so I don’t need more fixings in my home.

Saturday a day full of niceness with two of my friends, Anita and Malin and a lot of other friends that we run into up at my favourite place Konstepidemin, the Christmas market, the first Christmas market for me this year and a good one with a lot of open studios in the area, there you could meet the artist behind the art and crafts.

We visit the Hnoss gallery first, Klara Brynge was there and she had done a lot of lovely and interesting works I think…

Then we stopped by at Berti Jonsviks place, always nice to see Berit, she’s a nice person that I appreciate a lot, we had a nice talk about the identity, I am a little bite stressed about that I work for money and that I don’t have the energy or the power to do my own things right now, it’s a little bite like losing my artist identity when I doing others things and not my own stuff. It’s good to meet friends and colleges that can remind me of my artistry, even if I doing other things for awhile it don’t infer that I’m out of “business”.

Fika time, one of my absolutely favourite chores. When you have a fika/coffe break you almost come up with a lot of interesting things, one things lead you to another… you can see it as an informal meeting.
We had the luck to have some music too.

Ami Lanmark and her 1000 bowls was the next thing to see, Ami Lanmark was showing her ceramic bowls at the gallery of Konstepidemin. The idea behind is (simplify) that you have a piece of clay and then you have the opportunity to do a nice or a bed bowl out of it, the idea is how we choose to look at it… It was a lot of nice pieces, but the most interesting I think was the value…

Karin Östbergs ceramic made us stay a long time and choose some pieces to buy and take with us from this day.
I love the patterns and the shapes of Karins art pieces and now I’m a owner of five small pieces, hanging on my wall.
There we had glögg and “pluppar” not pepperkakor/gingerbread….

It was nice coming home yesterday and sees a postcard in my mail box, always nice to get an old fashion postcard or a hand write letter.

Galleri Hnoss presenterar stolt den svenska smyckekonstnären Klara Brynge.

–Jag arbetar med smycken som med en teckning, drar tredimensionella linjer och härmar rörelse i yta och material.

Med serien To Sea Yonder har Klara Brynge rönt stor framgång på välrenommerade gallerier i Europa och Asien. Hon tilldelades 2009 det prestigefyllda Eric Ericson stipendiet och i år fick hon ett av konstnärsnämndens eftertraktade arbetsstipendier.

I projektet har en text av författaren Siri Hustvedt fungerat som ledmotiv:

”My father once asked me if I knew where yonder was. I said I thought yonder was another word for there. He smiled and said, “No, yonder is between here and there.” This little story has stayed with me for years as an example of linguistic magic: it identified a new space – a middle region that was neither here nor there – a place that simply didn’t exist for me until it was given a name.” ur essäsamlingen Yonder av Siri Hustvedt, 1998.

Klara Brynge förklarar sina smycken som ett mellanrum som definieras av det som är runtomkring. Genom att med hammarslag omforma den stumma metallplåten rör hon sig i ett ingenmansland där vad som helst kan hända. Hon arbetar utforskande och vågar lita på vart processen leder henne. Arbetet skall gynna konceptet och känslan mer än det estetiska uttrycket.

Genom att känna traditionen men att välja att vara respektlös inför den vill hon frigöra sig från sin och även andras föreställningar om vad smide är. Hon undersöker istället vad man kan göra av smidet idag.

En anledning till Klara Brynges framgång är att hon förbehållslöst håller sig borta från trender och riktningar som råder i konstvärlden. Hon ställer frågan vad är smyckekonst för mig och väljer att vara sann mot sig själv.

–I work with jewellery as a drawing. I draw three-dimensional lines and mimic the motion of surface and materials.

With the series To Sea Yoder Klara Brynge has shown her work at prestigious galleries in Europe and Asia. She was awarded the 2009 Eric Ericson scholarship and this year she received a grant from the Swedish Arts Grants Committee.

A text by Siri Hustvedt serves as a leitmotif for the project:

Klara Brynge explains her jewellery as a space defined by what is around. By reshaping the inelastic metal plate she moves in a no man's land where anything can happen. Explores and dare to trust where the process leads her. She wants her work to support the concept more than the aesthetic expression.

By knowing the tradition but choosing to disrespect it, she wants to free herself from her and other people's idea about smithery. She investigates what is possible to do with smithery today.

One reason for Klara Brynges success is that she unreservedly stays away from trends in the art world. She asks what is jewellery art for me and choose to be true to herself.

yesterday, it still snowing…

the weekend…

The weekend started with a snow and then it turn into a slurry mess.

Me and my fiend Mariann was down to the flea market, Kommersen.

I did some findings that I’m very happy for, it was a plastic necklace from the 60s and some amazing miniature, flat plastic figures it was 40 of them, good to have in my jewellery pieces later on…

Then we went to Redford a small Indian restaurant with delicious food, it was like going to India for some hours and that’s a good feeling when it’s snowy, slurry and a little bite cold and grey outside.

Now it’s almost the end of November and I have been working the whole weeks since August, my own jewellery work has been suffered and that is a little bite pity, but I’m a person who tries to do my best, more then 100% if it’s possible… IF I’m working for money I do it as best I can, IF I’m working with my jewellery pieces and ideas I try to do it as best I can and take responsibility for the coming up results, when I meet friends I try my best to be there with all my sense, IF I exercise I try to do my absolute best the get the exhausted feeling I can… That’s a way of living, to take care of the time and be good/present for the moment, which is also a statement that I decide me for, long time ago and I try my best to live as I learn, so to speak. Even when I take it easy I do it as it was 100% slow time…I try to get my energy and power from my view of being curios about things, happenings and people in my surroundings.

So as you can see at my blog, it’s not much new under the jewellery sun, but the time will come, I know and I can promise that, I have a lot of ideas and a lot of material that I need to take care of.

I got photos from this group by chain e-mail…. I search at internet to see more or find out more about the artist behind this beautiful art pieces, unlucky it wasn’t so much I come up with, I found a link to the site there you can see more beautiful human flowers.

I like this kind of photomontage, it is very very beautiful but also worth considering about that we all are integrated in the world and the nature and that we can’t stand beside and look what’s happen, we have to take care and act, be a part of the nature and our closes surroundings.

A nice or a beautiful photo, picture, painting or jewellery art piece could have a deeper meaning IF you take your time and add it into modern age. You have to take your time and look behind the surfaces sometimes, the surface are not always the primary thought.

nothing new under the winter sun… or?!

Yesterday Mona Sahlin decides to leave her position as party chairman for the social democracy party, what a flop!
First we vote for a red-green collaboration and then they split right after the election, then the Green Party get to the right, with a lot of displeased voters… My wonder was, why didn’t they try to get together for four year and see what’s happen, as I know Rome doesn’t built on one day and in my opinion it’s the same with politic, if you want to change something you have to built it up and see what’s come out of it, you just can’t end it suddenly.
My wish was that the social democracy party, the Green Party and the left-wing party started something new, something that take care of the common people, the once that struggle to get their life in order with work and economic, health insurance, day care centre and unemployment benefits… Now they leave it as a mess and its pity for a country as Sweden that has long folkway of taking care of their citizen and people from other countries who seek a place to stay in peace and quiet.

Is it hard for the government to understand that some of us citizen despair?!

1-% regeln måste riktas mot konst istället för att gälla golv och tak i byggnader.
1-% regeln måste riktas specifikt för bildkonstnärer och konsthantverkare.

Idag brottas konstnärerna i osund konkurrens mot designmöbler, affischer och mycket annat som är avdragsgillt! En 1-% som riktar sig direkt för konsten gagnar inte bara konstnärskåren och konsthantverkare men också staden i stort och kan i någon mån balansera upp att konsten inte är avdragsgill.

Informationsmässigt /redovisningsmässigt blir det en med verkligheten överensstämmande statistik över hur mycket som går till konsten i Göteborg om 1-% regeln används som tänkt istället för att eventuellt gälla även andra yrkesgrupper.

1-% regeln måste bli det lyft för kulturen och Göteborg stad som tänkt.

brussels sprouts, chanterelle, cauliflower...

Dinner time… This is some ingredients that I like to use and eat.

The cantrell’s are picked and dried by my sister up in the North of Sweden.

Onion is also an ingredient that I like to use more or less every day.

Today I fried meatless bacon with smoked salt together with the vegetables… I have been vegetarian about 18 years; I eat fish but no meat or chicken.

If it was possible to only eat one thing all the time I absolutely want to eat Brussels sprouts , but only the Swedish once… I love Brussels sprouts.

Sunday 14/11 is the father’s day here in Sweden; I spend some hours with my friend Ingela and her lovely baby daughter in Haga.

Saturday...

Yesterday I was with my Neighbour Viola to the Kviberg market, a place that I appreciate a lot, it’s like transportation into another country far far away, the sounds the smells take you miles away even if we just went to the other end of the city.

First we had the stop at Kivibergs market and there we have my favourite cake, prinssess tårta/ princess cake and coffee, then we took the car to Kvibers överskottslager, there they sell a lot of different things mostly from the Swedish army…
After that we stopped by at the supermarket for some cheap food, I bought a lot of bulgur, that my thing these days.

Our plans was to visit the photographer Elisabeth Ohlson Wallins exhibition Jerusalem at Världskulturmuseet http://www.varldskulturmuseet.se but it was the first public day and it was a long queue outdoors so we jump that idea and will visit it some other day. I like the Ecce Homo exhibition 10-12 years ago so I look forward to see the latest exhibition by Elisabeth Ohlson Wallins.

a finding...

I did a finding, billiard balls for jewellery making in the end. 1999-2000 I was living for awhile in Copenhagen Denmark and one of my favourite jewellery artists from Denmark at that time was Helle Løvig Espersen and at that time she was working with billiard balls, I really really loved her work and I got a chain as a gift with a little black billiard ball pearl on it.

I know that I can’t do the same, that is not my attention, but I will try out some other ideas with these balls…
