some of my last pieces…

This necklace is a gift or a swap for my friend Eva…

works in process…

Finally I have found time and calmness to work with my own pieces again… These are try outs, I don’t know where it ends, but that’s also a good spot of the work, the way is the goal, sometimes…

some kind of pop up painting or drawings…

Some aquarelles that I have done… some times its nice to just sit and see what’s comes up, no plans, no ideas, just see where the lines and colour fields landed… some kind of pop up painting or drawings…

word at our streets…

pipe guys in the spring sun…

For new visitors that wonder why I post this kind of pics, I can tell that I collect these pipe guys from all over the world, some day I hope to have the time and do a book or something out of it, I see them, the pipe guys that I call them as a parallel universe, a funny way to look at some thing that you have no clue what it is, you see them all over the city in different poses but you are not really sure what they are for… or?! It was my friend Johan Persson who first catch them on photo and send the once to me and then whit his approval I started to collect them and search for them were ever I am these days. IF you have some that you want me to have, please send them to me at my e-mail address: prylpaula@hotmail.com with your name and the place that you saw the pipe guy, and remember that I save them and one day I will use them in some project. The name pipe guy is from my friend Lisa Lubin in USA, she named them when she visit me here in Gothenburg some years ago.

ages 52…

This post is for my friend and college Karin Jonsson, she has made me a wear of Harry Houdini or more his wife Bess, Karin use them in her art work and I think it’s interesting and also very funny and clever art, today Harry would celebrate 137 years anniversary …

Harry Houdini, född Erich Weiss 24 mars 1874 i Budapest, Ungern, död 31 oktober 1926 i Detroit, Michigan, var en ungersk-amerikansk utbrytarkung och centralgestalt inom utbrytarkonsten.
Harry Houdini (born Erik Weisz; March 24, 1874 – October 31, 1926) was a Hungarian-born American magician and escapologist, stunt performer, actor and film producer noted for his sensational escape acts. He was also a skeptic who set out to expose frauds purporting to be supernatural phenomena.

Houdini began his magic career in 1891. At the outset, he had little success. He performed in dime museums and sideshows, and even doubled as "The Wild Man" at a circus. Houdini focused initially on traditional card tricks. At one point, he billed himself as the "King of Cards". But he soon began experimenting with escape acts.
In 1893, while performing with his brother "Dash" at Coney Island as "The Houdini Brothers", Harry met fellow performer Wilhelmina Beatrice (Bess) Rahner, whom he married. Bess replaced Dash in the act, which became known as "The Houdinis." For the rest of Houdini's performing career, Bess would work as his stage assistant.

Earth Hour (jordtimmen)...

Earth Hour is a global event organized by WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature, also known as World Wildlife Fund) and is held on the last Saturday of March annually, asking households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change.

Earth Hour was conceived by WWF and The Sydney Morning Herald in 2007, when 2.2 million residents of Sydney participated by turning off all non-essential lights. Following Sydney's lead, many other cities around the world adopted the event in 2008. Earth Hour 2011 will take place on March 26, 2011 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., at participants' respective local time.

In the Christian calendar, Lady Day is the traditional name of the Feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin (25 March) and the first of the four traditional Irish and English quarter days. The "Lady" was the Virgin Mary. The term derives from Middle English, when some nouns lost their genitive inflections. "Lady" would later gain an -s genitive ending, and therefore the name means "Lady's day."

The Swedish tradition dates at least to the 15th century, and there is even a particular day for the purpose, Våffeldagen (waffle day), which sounds like Vårfrudagen ("Our Lady's Day"), and is therefore used for the purpose. This is March 25 (nine months before Christmas), the Christian holiday of Annunciation.

Scandinavian style waffles, common throughout the Nordic countries, are thin, made in a heart-shaped waffle iron. The batter is similar to other varieties. The most common style are sweet, with whipped or sour cream and strawberry or raspberry jam, or berries, or simply sugar, on top.

vårdagjämning/vernal equinox Monday 21 March and the international Down syndrome day at the same day…

An equinox occurs twice a year, when the tilt of the Earth's axis is inclined neither away from nor towards the Sun, the center of the Sun being in the same plane as the Earth's equator. The term equinox can also be used in a broader sense, meaning the date when such a passage happens. The name "equinox" is derived from the Latin aequus (equal) and nox (night), because around the equinox, the night and day have approximately equal length. It may be more precisely understood to mean that latitudes +L and -L north and south of the Equator experience nights of equal length.
Vernal equinox and autumnal equinox: these classical names are direct derivatives of Latin (ver = spring and autumnus = autumn).Downs syndrom, latin Morbus Down, är ett syndrom som beror på en kromosomrubbning.

Down syndrome, or Down's syndrome (primarily in the United Kingdom), trisomy 21, is a chromosomal condition caused by the presence of all or part of an extra 21st chromosome. It is named after John Langdon Down, the British physician who described the syndrome in 1866. The condition was identified as a chromosome 21 trisomy by Jérôme Lejeune in 1959. Down syndrome in a fetus can be identified with amniocentesis (with risks of fetal injury and/or miscarriage) during pregnancy, or in a baby at birth.

Down syndrome is a chromosomal condition characterized by the presence of an extra copy of genetic material on the 21st chromosome, either in whole (trisomy 21) or part (such as due to translocations).

21 March 2011 marks the 6th anniversary of World Down Syndrome Day and each year the voice of people with Down syndrome, and those who live and work with them, grows louder. But there is still so much more we can do.

Down Syndrome International encourages our friends all over the World to choose your own themes, activities and events to help raise awareness of what Down syndrome is, what it means to have Down syndrome, and how people with Down syndrome play a vital role in our lives and communities.

“World Down Syndrome Day takes place on 21 March every year. This date (21/3) represents the 3 copies of chromosome 21, which is unique to people with Down syndrome.”
“The aims of World Down Syndrome Day are to promote awareness and understanding, seek international support, and to achieve dignity, equal rights and a better life for people with Down syndrome everywhere.”

“Activities and events held on World Down Syndrome Day can have a tremendous impact, showcasing the abilities, talents and accomplishments of people with Down syndrome. I encourage you all to tell the World what you are doing to celebrate this important day.”

such a wonderful day…

Today I took a lovely spring walk by myself, a wonderful day and today I get the hope that the spring is here to stay, but you never know, yesterday when I wake up I wake up to a white landscape (again).
Today I think that I have seeing all the different breed of dogs in Sweden, everyone was out walking their dogs this sunny and warm day.

Ale…Alejandra Solar…

I got an e-mail from my friend and college Ale Solar who is represent in Schmuck right now, she show me here newest pieces and wonder what I think about them… I have to say that I like them all very very much and I think that it’s interesting to mix the nature by images on the architectonic shapes of the jewellery.

-----------------------------------------------

I 'm sending you pictures of the work that I'm presenting I would love to hear your comments, I was reading the press release for Schmuck and says that is the first time for a Mexico, Turkey and China for the first time.

The statement from Ale about her works:

Throughout my creative process I continually gather images from the mundane. I select some of these characters, landscapes, and objects to become part of a different story in an imaginary world. By removing these elements from their original context, altering and playing with them, I find surprising, and unexpected connections between them and their new environment, the stories start over, the ordinary and familiar become uncanny and strange. Themes of death, religion, fantasy and fiction emerge, and become great sources of inspiration.

Material; polyurethane.
