PLAY TIME – from the Museum Collection

Children play to learn about their surroundings, how things work, what the body can do, to understand their feelings and to learn about life. Play, research and learning are closely linked. How is this reflected in art? This winter’s selection from the museum’s collection of contemporary watercolours lays stress on play and imagination. The museum’s art collection is an ongoing and major part of the museum’s activities. Since its opening in 2000 the museum has purchased works from more than a hundred artists from all five Nordic countries. The collection represents a Nordic treasure trove of almost a thousand works, and grows steadily year by year.

Today I had a great day with my lovely neighbour Viola and her grandchild Rebecka, we where visit Nordic Watercolor Museum on the countryside at the best coast / Bästkusten or the real name Västkusten.

It was a really cold day but very very calm and beautiful with the silence and the sun.
We visit the exhibition; Play time.

I’m not sure that it was a exhibition for a 7 year old girl, she get restless very fast and want to touch the paintings, but that is one of the few rules that you need to learn a unaccustomed visitor, that in galleries and museum you have to look without touching. The exhibition was about children and the way of learning… but it was not for children I can tell, this was a reflection about the item in art.

It’s a nice and beautiful surroundings and the four grey box house is studios that you can get invited to work in for some week (s). That is one of my artist dreams to be in one of this grey houses/studio and have the time to be in the calm atmosphere and create.
