This fantastic playful mixed jewellery is made by Dara DiMagno…

Text and photos from The Earth Angels toys, folk art shop and site.

"Dara DiMagno’s creations are utterly fantastic, going far beyond the moniker of jewelry.
She bravely celebrates the everyday by elevating castoff treasures and calling our attention to tidbits of memories. Daring in texture, fascinating in form, her work is truly wearable art. Necklaces and bracelets are kaleidoscopes of vintage metal, found objects and forgotten faces. Each piece is thoughtfully wrought in her West Virginia studio of old silver utensils, odd findings, scraps from long-ago played games, tin types and old photos, steel cut Victorian buttons, Bakelite charms and baubles galore. These disparate objects are united in the artist’s hands as the inanimate ingredients she melds to life under her drills and tools. They emerge as charming stories, fancifully adorned with words and images. Dara festoons each creation with a sharp wit and gentle whimsy. Her craftsmanship is unparalleled, with her soldering and metal work tidy and delicate. She is sentimental, smart and very spunky…I admire her.
Her work is a true reflection of her spirit and talent".
